Abstract
The ecological significance of aquatic bird guano in a wetland ecosystem like Udpuria Talab (located in Digod, Kota, Rajasthan, India) highlights the critical role of waterbirds as ecosystem engineers and nutrient vectors. [1, 2] Udpuria Talab is a vital regional wetland that serves as a sanctuary for both local resident waterbirds and a large influx of winter migratory species (such as the Ruddy Shelduck, Painted Stork, and Oriental Darter). The accumulation of bird guano (excrement) within this closed or semi-closed freshwater system drives essential biochemical and biological dynamics.
