Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) transforms English language teaching for engineering students by offering targeted, data-driven, and personalized tools for mastering Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing (LSRW) skills. [1, 2, 3] AI Implementation in LSRW Skills • Listening (L): AI-powered speech generators, adaptive audio software, and smart podcasts offer customized listening exercises with varying accents and speeds. Systems like intelligent tutoring platforms evaluate listening comprehension through instant Q&A data analysis. • Speaking (S): Voice-recognition apps like ELSA Speak provide real-time phonetic breakdown, stress-pattern correction, and feedback on technical presentations, helping engineering students reduce public-speaking anxiety. • Reading (R): Adaptive NLP platforms break down complex research papers, code documentation, and manuals, delivering context-specific vocabulary translations and real-time conceptual simplification. • Writing (W): Intelligent writing assistants like Grammarly and QuillBot deliver automated, granular feedback on syntax, tone, and structural clarity, refining technical reports and project logs. [1, 2, 3] Benefits and Challenges • Advantages: High personalization, interactive real-time error correction, scalable practice modules, and increased learner motivation. • Challenges: Potential over-reliance on automated tools, data privacy issues, and the risk of diminished human instructor oversight if not combined with traditional methods
